Dark Matter Hosts Donation Drive for the Rescue Mission of El Paso

SUNLAND PARK, New Mexico – The leading dispensary in the state of New Mexico is becoming involved in the borderland community as it hosted a donation drive for the Rescue Mission of El Paso.

When management at Dark Matter was made aware that the Rescue Mission of El Paso was running extremely low on donations, they were quick to put a donation drive together.

The dispensary held an in-store donation drive from October 1-25. For encouragement, patrons were given a 10% discount when they donated 3+ food or clothing items.

The Rescue Mission of El Paso requested specific items to be donated, as the public tends to donate the same common items. This ends up in an overload of certain items and necessity for others.

Dark Matter asked its patrons to bring in non perishable food items, such as oatmeal, coffee, canned vegetables or fruit, soups, syrup and pancake mix. Clothing items, like jackets, long sleeve shirts and jeans were also donated.

“We’d like to let locals know we are here to contribute and support the communities of Sunland Park, Santa Teresa, and El Paso,” said Brad Harp, General Manager of Dark Matter.  “We are so thankful for the donations. The response of the community has been heartwarming to see,” Harp remarked.

The Rescue Mission of El Paso expressed gratitude for the donations. Since 2022, the mission has opened their doors to migrants from South and Central America that have been processed through U.S. Immigration. The necessity for these basic goods has doubled.

Understanding the importance of community involvement and support, Dark Matter is looking for future opportunities to contribute to more food banks and shelters around the border region. Zach Aguiar remarked “Making a positive impact beyond the cannabis industry is a goal we strive for.”

Dark Matter Cannabis is extending their community outreach this holiday season, with this donation drive being the first.

Dark Matter encourages other local business and community members to give back during this holiday season and help make a difference. For more information about Dark Matter, please visit darkmattercanna.com.
